January Meeting

Join us on Thursday, January 26th at 7:00pm
We are very fortunate to welcome Susie Black as our guest lecturer.

read all about her here:

She will also provide 2 very exciting workshops for us.  Her Friday workshop is called  Scrapbusters.  You guessed it, she will teach you how to handle all those scraps you have lying around.  I have personally taken one of these workshops and can tell you from experience you won't want to miss this as she will teach you how to make "made fabric" that you will then add into your quilt patterns. This class will be held on Friday, January 27th from 2:30pm-5:30pm at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library in the Hamon room on the 5th floor.  This is an amazing space with plenty of outlets at each station for all those sewing cords.
Her Saturday workshop will be on Gelli printing.  This is a fun technique to add new textures to your fabrics.  This is the most fun you can have with paint and fabric and/or paper. Using a Gelli plate, brayer, paint stencils and everyday items for texture you will be amazed at the beautiful “pulls” you can achieve. Every single time you will get a one of a kind print. You can layer them, draw on them, use them as background or stitch directly on them.  This class will be held on Saturday, January 28th from 1:30pm-4:30pm at Swan Haven in Cedar Hill.
Please sign up on Meetup for each of these events, or email Lee Jenkins at so she can help in reserving your spot.
Pricing for each workshop is $50 for member and $55 for non-members.
Don't forget we will also be giving the Hospice Quilts we have made to Presbyterian Plano.
Are you ready for another challenge?!  We have a great one this month, Chelsea and Cathy Fields will be setting everyone up with bags of fabric to give a modern twist on charity quilts!  There will be a prize for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, you won't want to miss out.
Plus...  we will reveal our Quiltcon Charity Quilt that our very own Shannon Page designed for us.
